When a young girl goes missing from a crowded beach, Detective Inspector Andy Bainbridge of Cleveland Police is put in charge of the case. Despite endless enquiries, no trace of the child is found, and it is assumed she has been swept out to sea.
Sixteen years later, when a number of young women go missing from the same resort, Bainbridge is horrified to realise that their disappearance, and that of the young girl years earlier, are connected.
Bainbridge comes up against the worst type of evil – the pure evil of a twisted mind.
