Inspector Jack Mason arrives in Redcar with his beautiful young wife, Annika, to take up his role with the Cleveland Police under the supervision of Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Bainbridge.
Mason is soon dealing with his first ever murder, that of an elderly man, savagely beaten. This is soon followed by a second murder. The injuries to both victims are so similar that to convince the police the same killer is responsible. With no witnesses to the attacks, and no forensic evidence, Bainbridge suspects the person responsible for both murders is a local villain. When a third body is discovered viciously stabbed and mutilated, Bainbridge is realises that there is a second killer at large. A killer more violent, more dangerous than anyone he has come across in his long and distinguished career.
As Bainbridge and Mason’s investigations continue, more chilling facts come to light as both men come face-to-face their frenzied adversary.
